Chronicles of a time traveler.

Animals about.

A ROADRUNNER HAS BEEN greeting me when I arrive at the barn, lately. He will strut around at a distance, casting glances, appearing and disappearing from view.

After arriving, today, I sat in the car to see what was about. He hopped out from behind a barrel and then onto a nearby sawhorse, where he could study me better. Then, down to the ground and up, onto the hood, to look through the windshield at me..! He was panting rapidly through an open beak, while fanning his comb, open and shut, as if to arouse. [No, I avoided hitting the horn.]

Here’s about how he looked:

Later, from inside, I saw a coyote saunter his way past, just outside the kitchen window. He appeared happy, but kept moving until he disappeared into the neighbor’s hay field.

As the day ended, while shutting windows to leave, when I looked out, I saw on the ground close to the building a pair of cottontail rabbits, nestled calm as can be, with their hind legs folded out to the side the way dogs will do. They were happy to lay there, even as I talked to them.

It’s fun to be alone, with animals (smile).

In earlier times, such animal behaviors might commonly be seen as signs from God, foretelling a future event.

If that’s what these animals want to believe, I will not dissuade them.
