Chronicles of a time traveler.

  • Suicidal ants.

BEFORE LONG, while sitting comfortably, I was aware of ants climbing up inside my pant leg, while they must have known they would be killed for doing so; yet it happened they were driven by the need to force me to remove my foot from their hive entrance (oops).

  • Why agriculture is so hard.

WHAT MAKES AGRICULTURE hard, in practice, is that no reward for all of the expended effort is seen near the time the work is being performed. Reward can hardly be counted upon, one thinks, given that it is so far removed from the present moment.

Unlike pouring concrete or painting a house, where reward is quickly felt upon doing the work, the planter cannot know what nature has in mind, and must bolster his faith that working now will produce a bounty later.

    Not everyone can do it.

  • Age of Imbeciles.

THESE ARE EPOCH TIMES, which deserve the recognition of a proper name. If a proper name has already been given, then perhaps an unofficial, nickname would be accepted.

Anthropological history has included everything from the Stone Age to Space Age, the Information Age… Now, this: our Age of Imbeciles.

Yes, an age when the world is ruled by imbeciles, the likes of which has never been seen before — done with everyone getting to vote, and guaranteed entitlements for life, by the mother-god of government.

    (sigh)

It looks like a pleasant day outside, though.

  • Forces in balance.

AMERICA SEEMS MORE DIVIDED than ever, between those who fear the threat of climate change, and those who fear the threat of climate change activists.

  • Feeling conciliatory.

UNTIL A MOMENT AGO, any time the United Nations would be mentioned, I would scoff at the contorted caricature that the United Nations has become, as it seems bent toward destruction of Western culture.

Until now, I say, because the UN was always destine to fail and couldn’t help it, like every hurried attempt made by humans, so that lessons may be learned and applied the next time it is tried.

    (sigh)

Israeli bombings appear to be having wonderful effect, wouldn’t you say..?  This is drawing out Hamas supporters in our country, for identification and cataloging.  Know your neighbors.

Remember the lesson provided by South Korea, and how her founding citizens survived the nation’s traumatic birth after WWII, when North Korea invaded South Korea, in 1950.  By knowing the enemy within, and dealing with them as they fled, the refugees could return later, once the invading force was repulsed.  South Korea became unified..!

Maybe what’s wrong with the UN is, it has no agreed upon morality.

All politics, money, and power.  No morality.  Thick as thieves.

Next time around, World, the organizational charter should declare something as its moral foundation, and then apply that in a consistent manner.

NO BACK-TALK.  When violators persist, then these member nations must be expelled, to start their own club.

    That’s the ticket..!

And in that place, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

  • Cosmic noon (?).

NASA CONTINUES TO PUSH forward the frontiers of knowledge, via the use of space telescopy.

News release: NASA’s Webb Captures an Ethereal View of NGC-346.

Right off, I had to know: What does ethereal mean.*

The Webb telescope “is solving mysteries,” the story concludes, which was apparently what the writing assignment was — to conclude with that.

Yet, that isn’t what readers would gather from reading the story, which is all about how the findings are not consistent with expectations.  Hm.

    How is anything solved..?

What is solved, perhaps, is the question of whether NASA knows what to think.

    * Ethereal: extremely delicate and light in a way that seems too perfect for this world (blink, blink).

  • A struggle.

UPON ARRIVAL at the proverbial gates of heaven, the face looking in will look like this:

Bewildered, intent to find out why a good guy would be put through the ringer that life on earth has been.

That face will be looking for answers.

Maybe if I pass the test, I’ll get to rule a galaxy somewhere.

Now, now, comes a voice.  Just relax.  We have a little assignment for you…

Why are there so many galaxies..?

Well, rewards were needed.  Here you are. For the next twenty billion years or so, try not to drive off the road. It’s all yours.

It may be presumed impossible to know how this could work. There is no fault in not knowing, but in thinking it.

SIDE ENTERTAINMENT: Just Dropped In – Kenny Rogers.

  • Identity.

IN HIGHWAY TRAFFIC, I sense the surrender of individuality as I navigate the bloodstream of a larger creature, which is sending me to where I am needed.

To recognize an individual conscience, to pick it out of the background by asserting, yes, here it is, this is the conscience of “x” — then this ability may also eliminate or establish the possibility of a conscience existing within things we have not yet thought there was a conscience lurking.

For example, while accepting that we, humans, are composed of legions of a variety of single cells, the functions of which are coordinated by a central nervous system, we never have imagined that each cell would be running its own consciousness, yet it could be.

Similarly, each business organization may have an identity that thinks and feels in its own way.

Why do some make a greater percentage of “poor” decisions than others, costing themselves (and others) more than necessary?

Perhaps it is because some will count on others to maintain a guaranteed, acceptable, base-level of endurance for the whole, and this is sufficient to allow them the opportunity to squander everything beyond it.

  • Yikes..!

I’M UP EARLY to find my way to the downstairs half-bath which has been dark for some time until my arrival.

While sitting, the sudden proximity of a giant spider causes shock. Centered on the door panel, now closed upon us, she is held close by and turns to face me with a widened spread of her sturdy legs.

Drawing courage, I blurt: “You’re going to die, buddy. We’re going to find out what life is like after your dead!”

Standing, stepping around, and closing the door behind me, it is just something that can wait until later. Where’s my coffee.

  • Somewhat mandatory extermination.

WE’VE HEARD OF dire situations where captives are forced into cannibalization, etc., due to diminishing resources.

The anguish of selecting who must be sacrificed is something we can imagine.

    Now, imagine this…

The people in a village, state, even an entire nation, have been convinced that supplies are running out, and sacrifices must be made, on a grand scale, unlike anything that has ever been required before.

Forecasters say that the earth can sustain only about 60% of its current population, but this is good news, because it will only sustain 20% later — UNLESS SOMETHING IS DONE NOW !!!

Straws are drawn to see who must perish. The system is fair, people are told, with the needs (and wisdom) of society being greater than that of any individual.

And as the sacrifices begin, a door is opened, somehow, to people smart enough to find it and escape. The result is that only the stupid, and those not paying attention, will go !
